If mankind makes the year 2200 in a meaningful and sustainable way it will be a miracle. The rate of change is accelerating while we tinker around the edges.

It's not that simple. If you don't do any more drilling now then the gas and oil we have will stop flowing at some point soon. That sounds like a good thing but we need to be absolutely certain we have the infrastructure to take over before that happens. Currently, we do not.
