It’s also the biggest opening so far for director Zach Cregger, whose film “Weapons” was a breakout hit in 2025.

My only gripe is with the 5 minutes where the movie plays with the main characters life as a joke and kills him off as a bystander to slapstick comedy. Literally everything else could be written off as acceptable (like a character walking off for no reason being played off as a joke) or literally everything else umbrella employee being so stupid…

As it appeared, great movie(although I question the ending) but it had nothing at all to do with Resident Evil... AGAIN. Its great survival horror movie. The main character is great(over dumbness with the guns aside), and watching him trying to get from A to B is a fun ride. It starts fast and doesnt let up. But that ending... It made it a watch…

Apparently I seem to be fairly alone in my thoughts about this, but I didn’t really enjoy it too much. It didn’t really feel like a movie set in the RE universe to me, but more like a movie trying to be a video game. The references were too on the nose for me; the lingering scene on the type writer, the lock references the “ video games! .” To be…

I really enjoyed the film. It really does feel like a game at times and that's NOT just because of the few FPS moments, but rather just all the build up of suspense and actions that the character takes (e.g. scavenging for ammo, reactions to events). It was like a combination of the atmosphere of RE1 (maybe 2) and the occasional comedic relief and…

I think he mentioned (when writing the RE movie) it was intentionally written to be similar enough so that if they didn't get the license to make an RE film, they just need to cut out any RE references and it would still work as a generic horror film. Change Raccoon City to some city out in the boonies, Umbrella Corp to some random corpo name…

People wanted a proper tense serious retelling of RE2. If fans got what they wanted we would have generic zombie movie 1000. Instead we got this very nice tribute to the game and to the players. Very well thought out and obviously made by someone who deeply cared about it. I think the ending where it turns out he's just a NPC whose lore you just…

It's a bit of a mishmash. Parts felt like plagas, some parts felt very t-virus. The "boss monster" is a bunch of bodies clumped together (which I don't remember happening in the games, but I haven't played anything past 5. Just the originals and some of the remakes. And I might just be overlooking/not remembering), but there were still some of the…

Well, I don't have much of a scale because it just generally doesn't interest me haha, so i'm not sure either! I really dislike jump scares as well, unless they serve an actual purpose, but I don't think they're so much scary as annoying, so unless they're really overdone they aren't a big deal. But if it really is a proper horror film, I think…

Not alone. Brought the entire family to watch. My dad and mom thought it was absolute garbage (they are boomers so it's understandable, I wouldn't call this garbage). My brother and I thought it was just okay. I found Bryan super obnoxious and I hate his incessant annoying monologue like that speaking video game protagonist who wouldnt shut the…

Huge Resident Evil fan here. Movie fuckin ruled. Don’t listen to tourists complaining that “it’s not like the games.” The games themselves have done zombies, vampires, werewolves, bugs, monkeys, snakes, mold people, women made of flies, a long haired man singing opera in the rain that turns out to be made of thousands of leeches, etc. The games…
-
I don’t give a shit if it isn’t like the games. But I do give a shit about a movie making me want to care about the protagonist. I never cared whether or not Austin Abrams survives the film. And, because of that, the final five minutes really pissed me off. Like, was I suppose to care or not Zach? Cause it felt like I wasted my time by the time…
-
I think they work mostly because instead of making them jump out in the middle of a moment of tension or after a fake out, precisely when you most likely expect one, they do so when your attention is focused on something else. No reason to expect a zombie jumping from the corner, when the audience and the protagonist are already worrying about a…

There are examples of isolated battles that would be interesting. If he picked something like an Orc version of the Clone Wars episode where General Krell orders Captain Rex on a suicide mission, but they rebel to save themselves, that could be worth the loss of the greater world's story.
-
It understood Resident Evil and it also knew that trying to bring the protagonists from the game into a movie wouldn't work. Coming at it from the angle it did was perfect. It added to the lore is relatively insignificant way and did not take anything away from the games.
-
The trailer for street fighter was on just before I saw RE and it looked like it could have been solid with different treatment, but it just made me cringe. The direct sound effects ripped from the game were awful in the context of the movie, it’s just fan jerk offs.
-
That's a crazy way to describe Alex Garland, who not only wrote 28 Days Later and Sunshine, but also made one of the best Sci Fi movies of the 21st Century in Ex Machina. Alex Garland is a phenomenal filmmaker. He also made Devs, which was an incredible TV show.

If Creggar comes back (and I doubt he will) then the last thing we need is attempts to adapt any of the RE games plots and just let Creggar do his own thing. Love the RE games but those stories and characters only really fit in game worlds.
