I mean US produces more oil than it consumes. It is not entirely self sufficient because it has to import some crude and oil production is not exactly equal but it is a lot more than what EU can say for itself. Same exact thing could be said about natural gas.

Lots of people really need it multiple times a week. Renting is feasible if you live in an apartment and work a reasonable distance away. Not so much if you live in a house.
