Agreed. In Dante’s Inferno, the Vestibule of Hell held those who stood aside. They were condemned to endless motion, chased by insects, following empty banners. Their sin wasn’t evil acts it was watching evil happen and staying silent. Dante was clear: apathy is not innocence it is evil’s accomplice
