Depends on the State. Just like a driver's license you have to renew, and as you advance in age, you receive more scrutiny. It can also be suspended for all the same reasons that a driver's license can be, (Pending investigations, safety evaluation, criminal convictions, mental health findings, etc.)

He did have permission to hunt on that land, it was his father-in-law’s. The people should’ve known better than to wander around at twilight on private property, during hunting season in a rural area.
