The physicist received the 2026 CNRS gold medal, France's highest research honor, for her pioneering work on polaritons—hybrid particles resulting from the coupling of light and matter. Bloch, 59, is a research director at the Centre of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies (C2N) and member of the French Academy of Sciences.
“Mon père, Claude Bloch, était un grand physicien, et je l'ai perdu quand j'avais 4 ans.”
