User claims geese are trained, cites Attenborough precedent

A commenter argued that wild geese would not perform this behavior and that trained birds were likely involved, referencing a David Attenborough nature show that used trained geese for similar footage.
“I guarantee you that these are trained geese because wild geese simply will not do this.”

VASTLY more intelligent than this entire tRUMP Cabinet & Administration!!! 🦅🦆🦢🦃🐓🦉
-
There’s an American film too, Fly away home, with the same plot:

I’m so glad you shared this information, because the last time I saw a video like that on YouTube, all the comments were against the boaters, claiming the boat interrupted a formation already in progress. And i didn’t want to believe that version 😏. I want to believe the birds benefitted. 💙💙

That is a pretty neat trick. The goose is slip streaming the boat and flying without flapping his wings.
-
I'm not expert but this looks kinda AI 🧐
-
I guarantee you that these are trained geese because wild geese simply will not do this. For a David Attenborough piece of one of his nature shows, they did this with the woman who trained them in the boat. They had to pilot that boat over and over again to get the perfect shot.
-
Perhaps the Greylag geese think the boat is the lead bird!
-
My first thought was "why aren't they flap... Oh!"
-
That is beautiful! Since I was a kid, I go to a window and watch when I hear them calling overhead as they pass by. There is just something about them that speaks to me.
-
That's cool how the lead duck is conserving energy by drafting the boat's slip stream while the rest of the flight flaps their wings to keep up.
-
Incredible. Have you ever seen the film Fly Away Home? It's based on a true story and it's wonderful.
-
I've had this happen while riding my bike on the beach several times. They just come up along side you and match your speed.
-
aerodynamic drafting, or slipstreaming. What a great experience, and video capture!
-
Oh! Look at them being energy efficient. Lol make someone else do the heavy work.
