The UN Group of Human Rights Experts on Nicaragua released a report documenting at least eight deaths in custody since 2018, including inconsistencies in the government's account of Brooklyn Rivera's death. An independent assessment from Physicians for Human Rights determined the official COVID-19 explanation was 'not medically coherent.' The report also documented the disappearance of at least 161 people since 2018.
