Archaeologists interpret deliberate burial in second century AD

The LVR Office for the Preservation of Archaeological Monuments concludes the coins were probably buried deliberately in the second quarter of the second century AD, likely for safekeeping. State archaeologist Erich Classen speculates the owner may have died before recovering the cache.
