More seasoned bakers began offering specific advice on crust technique, apple selection, and pastry methods, with references to tested recipes and professional baking approaches.
“once I discovered America's Test Kitchen vodka pie crust recipe (of course the alcohol evaporates during baking, but makes the raw dough super moist and easy to roll out) they turn out perfect every time.”

Try Jacque Pepin's Apple Galette - much easier and delicious.

Looks fine to me, whipped cream please😋

This might help. There's no sound because I'm not that flashy.

That is the Jimothy of apple pies. Well done.

My grandmother used to say if we wanted something that looked pretty for desert, there was a bakery a few blocks away. But if we wanted something that tasted good we should wash our hands, mind our manners, and eat what she had baked. Her baking was always amazing, if occasionally uneven looking.

Cooking for yourself is a learning journey. Most people find it really hard at first, but each time gets better. When you have learned the basics, you can start inventing changes and making it truly your own.

Lattice tops are hell. I just go with a full top w/ some nice patterns from a knife to release steam. But kudos to you for trying. And taste is always the most important criterion.

My mom accidentally made a chocolate cake for my sister’s birthday where the pan twisted during baking. We filled in the wonky bits with icing so some kids had 50/50 icing:cake 😂

If you first don’t succeed try try again. Good luck! Im also surprised I didn’t burn mine I have sacrificed many things to my oven because it’s small.

If you got the taste right, you can master the pie dough with more pies. Pretty is in the eye of the beholder, but mouthwatering is the goal. 👍

You did great. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say. My stomach is saying we’ve got a beauty here let’s dig in. 👍😋

It's gorgeous. I'll bring the ice cream and cheddar cheese to have side options. Man, now I need an apple pie for real

The lattice kind of looks like bacon, and honestly, that’s an intriguing idea. Bacon makes almost everything better.

I don't trust perfect looking pies. This looks like it was made with love. I'd gladly eat a pie like that one.

Taste is what matters. You should try a French Apple Tart recipe.
-
Lots of options and I bet they all taste terrific.
-
I like the way looks. It’s really cute. Nice work

Practice makes perfect! And it definitely was.

Some of the ugliest seem to taste the best.

My poor husband had to suffer an intolerable number of apple pies before I could finally make a pie worth a darn. There are several key things to keep in mind: 1. Crust. use a combination of FROZEN unsalted butter & FROAEN crisco to make it tasty, flaky & non-shrinking. Use ICE water. I've always 1/

That's exactly my idea of how an apple pie should look. Experience over seven decades of pie eating has taught me that a pie like that is the one that TASTES best. You can see how full of apples, how perfectly cooked and how plump and juicy it is. If you want a perfect looking pie, go to a museum👍

No one’s first Apple pie looks pretty. Most taste pretty ok. That’s the important part. The key to good pastry is getting it combined without working it too hard. Two knives or two forks (depending on your patience level) to combine the butter and everything else is where things go well or badly
-
If you've got the taste down then I'd call that a huge win, especially for your first pie. Pies are fickle little buggers so a sincere congrats on making a nice pie. I really wouldn't worry about it's appearance. Ugly or pretty all pies look the same buried under a couple scoops of ice cream😉

"blind baked" the shell. That is baking the shell B4 adding the filing and baking again. 2. Apples. use a combination of very sweet & tart. Your apple slices should be as thin and small as possible. If your slices are not thin, consider cooking the apples in a pot before baking. Lastly 2/
