Based on the initial CBC article, it appears that the shooter was only in the CAF briefly because the only photo available was taken during BMQ nine years ago. If he was in longer, presumably there'd be newer photos with rank greater than a recruit. There's not even reason to know that he completed recruit-level training and didn't wash out. In…
