Commenter cites Naples pizza tradition as cultural norm, not aberration

A commenter pushed back against American/British hand-eating conventions, stating that in Naples (pizza's birthplace) knife and fork is the standard, and hand-eating is seen as crude.
“Don't go to Naples, then, the birthplace of pizza. Only Americans & the British are crude enough to eat it with their hands.”

That’s nothing. My mother was from a wealthy Australian family. She ate a banana with a knife and fork. We all would tease her about it.

Hey, sometimes you just gotta justify the existence of silverware. Cut the dude some slack and next time you have a beverage use a spoon. He'll almost certainly ask why you used a spoon, and then you can reply by talking about the taco fork and knife thing.

Don't go to Naples, then, the birthplace of pizza. Only Americans & the British are crude enough to eat it with their hands. Napolotani use a knife & fork to eat pizza, everyone gets their own pizza, and there are only 3 types offered: Marinara, Margherita, & one w/tomato & anchovies. That's it.

I always just make a "salad" and break the shell up in pieces. I know, it's blasphemy. But it's easier to eat while you're sitting in your chair watching tv or whatever.

Personally I have no problem with knife & fork pizza but I worked with a guy who ate burgers with a knife and fork and it was just too weird to watch

A spoon is the only acceptable utensil for tacos, and only to scoop dropped taco innards back into the shell.

How do you eat a taco with a knife and fork? That's a rare skill. Stay with him and put him in a circus.

That shit should have been disclosed before the marriage transaction took place

And you should be granted one and win everything in the divorce!

It's your queue to get a delicious double crust apple pie, flip it into a big 13x9 and chop it up with a spatula in front of him. Then serve you both a big spoonful of pie in a bowl, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, and live happily ever after...some rules were meant to be broken ♡♡♡

I did end a thing with a woman over eating burritos with utensils. Not one covered in sauce. Simple freaking breakfast burritos. "is it dirty? Are you too good to use your hands?" I have no idea why I found it so insulting and still do to this day.

There was an episode of Arrow where Oliver took his mom out to eat. They got burgers and fries and she started using a knife and fork on her burger. Seriously? You've never had a burger before?
