Prime Minister Mark Carney responded to mounting criticism of his government's major economic policy package by asserting he holds a "very clear mandate" to push through the changes. The statement addressed concerns over Bill C-39 and related labour and infrastructure initiatives.
“No, this is the problem with political parties and majorities. They think they have a mandate to do anything they want. No, they don't have a clear mandate unless everything they are doing was clearly explained in their platform during the election.”
