Energy Minister Chris Bowen rejected the Coalition's plan, saying it would raise costs and reduce Australia's resilience to global shocks, while the CSIRO's cost figures showing renewables remain cheaper than coal are cited alongside the announcement.
“It will make Australia poorer, weaker and less secure from global shocks”

I'd say if you asked that 60% what these changes actually mean, they'd genuinely struggle to articulate the consequences. We've got a population of people who will fly off the handle just from clickbait. Understanding policy is clearly a bridge too far these days. People see what they don't like right now and figure they have to vote for someone…

They would have been better off campaigning on building more coal power plants. Lots of folks hate nuclear just as much as they hate solar and wind and for the same reason; it hurts the coal industry. I just don't understand the mentality. If the energy companies thought it was more cost effective to build coal or nuclear instead of solar, wind…

Can somebody please explain what is the fixation that some parties have against renewable energy? What seems to be the witch-hunt with solar, etc??? I genuinely don’t understand why this is a thing worldwide, but interested in what Aussies think other Aussies consider this such a big problem.

From what I’ve gathered they want to let people access it early to prop up housing and ensure they don’t have anything left for later in life (so need to continue working forever etc)

God I hate them so much. And my fellow Queenslanders fornruin the food thing we had going. Not that Labor was perfect. But gestures vaguely. Miles had a weird smile tho!
-
Can someone explain why regional Australia is so riled up about renewable energy? Don't just say they're dumb, or nostalgic. What's really going on out there?
-
It would be terrible if the coalition actually started to try and earn my vote, I might have to actually decide. Thankfully they're keeping it easy.
-
Yeah sure, y’all took these promises to the last election too. God, is there no one in the Liberal party who is competent and actually a leader.

'Provide energy for water-intensive data centres by building even more water-intensive and spenny nuclear facilities'.

“Gina’s mines are run using renewable energy. The snake.” There ya go buddy. Take a deep breath.
-
Maybe in out of the loop what are they suggesting or wanting to do with superannuation?
-
Wow, what an incredibly dumb attitude. Keep these delusional creeps out of power.
-
Wait… I thought Gina was the one with the chainsaw. Did she let Angus borrow it?
