The problem is BC wine is as scarce as California wine outside of BC. I'm in Ontario so at least we get Niagara wine which is great,but when I lived in Quebec I rarely drank Canadian wine. It would be great if we could enjoy all Canadian wines across the country

My fav part is this: "The Wine Institute has called on Canada to end the boycotts, contending...... while depriving the Canadian government of millions in tax revenue." As if anyone who hasn't been able to buy California wine just stopped drinking wine completely and never found another source.

Burnt Ship Bay is a pretty good Niagara wine I've had recently (Cab Merlot blend), and I'm not usually one for Canadian wines.

3,500 acres in wine country is a mind boggling amount of wealth. They could have leased it out for other uses and maintained ownership, if the land itself truly mattered to them. They saw a chance to cash in for $22.5 million while blaming Canada for publicity.

This is just scapegoating. 3-5% of overall California wine production was exported to Canada. It is not Canada's fault that there is an over supply of grapes & a change in US consumer habits where non-boomers either cant afford wine or prefer beer. FYI 🇨🇦 only accounts for 35% of total exports.

I broke off a longtime friendship with a someone that lives in California early in 2025. He went all, “Canada can’t survive without us” and laughd at the start of our boycott about removing their alcohol. I would love to unblock him on fb just to post this article then laugh.

This winery made one of my favourite wines and I was a regular customer but I stopped buying anything from 🇺🇸 when they elected Trump. His threats of annexation means I may never buy anything from 🇺🇸 ever again. I feel sorry for the winery but 🇨🇦 didn't cause this, 🇺🇸 did.
