I think you are also overestimating the difficulty in shooting down cruise missiles when they are able to be tracked by networked sensors the entire time they are flying. Regardless Taiwan is almost assuredly not going to waste the largest salvo of missiles they will get (i.e. the opening one) on hitting Chinese economic targets. Even if they do…

It's crazy how his first whole campaign was all about China China China, and now he abandoned his allies and China suddenly is not bad anymore. And suddenly not a single MAGA-person you hear scream about China anymore.

To me this reads as telling the megalomaniac orange man-child to not act like a complete fucking idiot and everything will be good. Infinite ways to write a headline for that to generate so many clicks.
That was different though. The nuances made it much more of a friendly gesture to Putin, rather than the submissive one to Xi. Both visits are just wild in their own way though.
