I'll discuss in good faith and less aggressively, because it seems like you do actually just believe this stuff and aren't maliciously spreading propaganda. I think the core issue with using the Baltics and NATO enlargement as an example of American aggression towards Russia is that you're not really thinking about the actual Baltic perspective…

🇺🇸 New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill is exploring ways to block Russian diesel tankers from docking and unloading at her state's ports, FT reports. Fuel suppliers are also wary of buying Russian diesel, fearing prosecution for violating US sanctions despite Trump's assurances.

“In purchasing oil from Russia, a known supplier and financial supporter of Iran, Donald Trump is providing funding for a country that is engaged in hostilities with America, up to and including killing American soldiers,” she wrote, adding: “Any effort to profit from the illegal trade in Russian fuel will be met with harsh penalties.”…

The anti-Russian sentiment all stems from the completely fictitious idea that the Ukraine war was "unprovoked" instead of a purposeful provocation by the US, steered by rabidly anti-Russian ideologues like Victoria Nuland and supported by defense industry shills like John McCain and Lindsay Graham. I don't like the invasion, but to pretend it was…

Solidarity with America's defense treaty partners, for starters. Russia was Europe's largest energy supplier in 2021, with an energy bill of €150 billion. Europe has spent the past few years frantically building out new infrastructure across 30-ish sovereign countries to enable de-coupling from genocidal Russia. Trying to do it in a way that would…

New Jersey governor makes it obvious that they don't want Russian diesel unloading at their terminals. Senior Democratic senators and representatives have written to ports, banks, energy companies and at least two shipowners to warn of potential legal consequences for facilitating the importation of Russian fuel. Despite pressure from the White…

No, it goes back to ultra nationalist, rightwing groups in Eastern Europe, many of whom fled to the US after WWII and who had cooperated with Nazis during Germany's occupation of Poland. They brought to the US their anti-Soviet sentiment, which was in many cases zealot Russophobia and hatred of Russia. So no, it didn't just begin. It's been going…

Democratic-led states have filed a record number of multi-state lawsuits against Trump's Executive overreach - and the Federal courts have been ruling against Trump the vast majority of the time. One of the most important stories to be underreported for the past 2 years. If Republican-majority Congress had any balls, there would have been pushback…

I have no idea. I just meant that her statement seemed to indicate that she’s exploring that option. Everybody seems to know that her options are limited beyond lawsuits challenging the waiver and similar mechanisms, but I respect the hell out of her for trying to do the right thing for our country and military.

At least the New Jersey governor is willing to follow the law, as well as have some basic human decency. The Trump regime is completely lawless, violating newly signed laws before Trump's signature on the law has fully dried. Hopefully more governors will show their spine like Mikie Sherrill, a true US patriot.

Someone further down the threads makes an excellent point. There is a federal law on the books at the moment that prevents accepting Russion goods, oil in particular in US ports. So all a Governor would (likely) have to do is point at that law and refuse them docking rights or otherwise divert the ship.

I feel like you are mistaking a not unfair anti-US / critical view of the US with a Pro-Russian view. You can, and should be very critical of both particularly in this day and age. But just because you are anti-US, doesn't mean you should be Pro-Russia.

It’s not coming. It was bullshit to start with, and it will end in bullshit. The tanker took off its destination tracker last night. Because believe it or not just because some stupid fucker signs an executive order doesn’t mean it’s law..

I specifically said America's defense partners. Who also happen to be America's most important trading partners. Without whom many well paid union jobs could not be sustained.

So is this the new Russian talking point. Sounds about right. Russia can't win the fight so they are blaming the victims. I hope you are ashamed of even typing this garbage.

The feds aren't fuel importers. Those are private companies. The fed is pressuring them to break the law, but hopefully they aren't that stupid. Trump won't protect them.
