Polish President Karol Nawrocki forced his way into the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw shortly after midnight this morning, in the latest escalation of the rule-of-law tussle between the PiS-allied president and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

they have a long running feud, at leas the leaders of each do. over the last two tenures the previous govt kept harassing and propagandizing the public tv to insane levels (not that it's not happening now, but it was really heavy-handed crude propaganda back then) so, some people siding with the previous government - which is now the opposition…

So how do you do it? They tried changing how the judges are elected. That got sent...to the tribunal. And died there. They tried electing legitimate judges to at least make the tribunal work again, even in its recent degenerate state. The president blocked that from happening as well. So they had to try force. Bae this morning says everyone on Facebook is yelling about there was a coup in Poland. Well, it's not a coup, and the protesters are the bad guys. This is an attempt at lustration. https:// apnews.com/article/poland-euro pean-union-justice-protests-police-tribunal-67eda2e3a151e00038d85a5e894a2a72

No, not really, the right wing politician (the president) is actually pulling the soft coup. He is refusing to do his duties (acklowledging the swearing of new judges). There is still democracy side, it's just Poland's Constitution doesn't account for its president to actively try to bend it so he can become a king.

I stood there for 5 hours to vote against him because PiS manipulated the voting districts. Unfortunately Poles are Poles. They preferred a pimp and hooligan over the guy who was "stuck up". Same thing as in America. Better a senile rapist than lady who laughs funny. This world is fucking doomed.

If you disobey the law you get the police at your door, but if the constitutional court president disobey the law he shouldn't get the police at his door ? Weird fetish man.
-
Yes, I agree that PiS went nuclear there afterwards and it’s not the same. Picking the extra judges was still a bad move and part of the problem we have now
-
or you know, Tusk could have won the presidency and done everything he wanted? But he lost it and now he has to 'bend democracy' to get what he wants?

I have my doubt. if the rule of law will be restored, there will be no significant danger
