Several users voiced sadness about missing opportunities to see glaciers. One stated they spent their whole life dreaming of visiting Greenland's glacier and it "feels like I never fucking will" given the rapid changes. Another expressed doubt about ever seeing a real glacier.

I visited my cousins in The Valtellina (Italian Alps) in Sept 1999 & May/June 2001. Our pictures show WHITE peaks year round. Today, these peaks are rocky this time of year -- snowcaps are seasonal only. 10,000+ yrs of snow/ice covered Alps melted in under 20 years. OMG.

The effect of permafrost loss in the mountains is going to have catastrophic losses in the valleys. Evacuation plans & movement monitors will have to be upgraded.

The heat that humans produce is an insignificant factor in global warming. It's the CO2 from burning fossil fuel that traps incoming solar radiation, turning it into heat: a much bigger effect than all the heat we add ourselves.

Claciers in the Alps will all disapear, that much is clear, also the nature of rivers depending on them, like the Rhine and Danube, will change significantly.

The global canaries in a coal mine. It they aren't surviving Climate Change, can we expect anything else to?

Think how the human population has exploded in the last few hundred years. Even without industrialization we might very well have global warming just from body heat and cook fires. Add in the effects of industrialization and it’s off to the races…

Many places including raising sea levels, but much of it into the atmosphere due to warmer air being able to hold more water and higher rates of evaporation due to the same. More moisture in warmer air = more and more extreme weather events.

And each year that loss will be more. The Greenland and Antartic glaciers maybe 2 to 3kms thick, but with this accelerating we are running out of time to both sequester CO2, and reduce output.

We are in the final days where we will experience livable conditions. Everything past this only gets worse. Just remember to hold those responsible
