I visited my cousins in The Valtellina (Italian Alps) in Sept 1999 & May/June 2001. Our pictures show WHITE peaks year round. Today, these peaks are rocky this time of year -- snowcaps are seasonal only. 10,000+ yrs of snow/ice covered Alps melted in under 20 years. OMG.

As kids we used to play on icebergs frozen into Portage Lake near the highway. Portage Glacier has receded so far back it now calves on dry land, no more icebergs Picture is Knik Glacier a very popular 4 wheeling area near my house.

Last time (10yrs ago) I was on the Aletsch Glacier, it took an hour to cross, width-wise. My 1980s map showed a side glacier flowing into it. In reality it took another mile to reach its snout. The Konkordia Hut was built beside the glacier, but now there are huge ladders to climb. Imagine it now!

This is heart breaking to see… I know these glaciers from late 1970s, we really kill ourselves by carbon emissions 😢 And people still doubt science, but buy dysons, enjoy AI, mRNA vaccines, use products based on CRISPR and enjoy watching re-usable rockets… #madness
