If there is anything I learned from living in Rural PA it's that the racism is the focus, everything else is tertiary at best. If they end up shooting themselves in the foot, so be it - as long as we get rid of those icky brown people.

I grew up in Iowa (which, btw was early in welcoming same sex marriage, back when I was proud of my state . . .) and Trump’s first term DESTROYED soy bean farmers - and they voted for him AGAIN

I live in Ohio. Rural voters control this state. They vote FOR anything and everything that screws over city dwellars. It's the Buckeye Method of owning the libs. If you are a progressive/ liberal person.... avoid this place.

My rural Iowa county has a population of 7,200, with about 2,400 registered Republican and 1,200 Democrats. The best we can hope for is that those who would normally vote Republican stay home and that those who are pissed off will get up and vote.

How hard is it to ask yourself what Trump has actually done to make your life better? Of course, the Dems have to campaign for rural votes, too - “Trump Sucks!” isn’t a strategy. Give people a reason to vote for you, not just against the other guy.

You’re putting far too much faith in them. Even in those parts of deep, rural America where the Democrats win, it’ll be a close-run thing. If there’s one thing rednecks are known for, it’s being bloody-minded.
