Agent Olson emphasized that victims should not fear ridicule when seeking justice, warning that embarrassment could silence both these and future victims of similar scams. He noted the victims were targeted because they were trusting individuals deliberately manipulated through the sophisticated scheme.
“The victims in this case were targeted precisely because they were trusting, responsible people who they believed were building genuine relationships and legitimate financial futures.”

/r/nfl is a place where people from all walks of life can get together to talk about a sport we love, so please keep your posts related directly to the National Football League. If it's related to the NFL, but not about the NFL (such as streams, fan-related posts, business promotions, betting-related posts, video games, Fantasy Football, College…

The potential victims of 49ers imposter Darjean Love now exceed 60. And there could be more. https://www. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballt alk/rumor-mill/news/potential-victims-of-49ers-imposter-darjean-love-now-exceed-60

I’ll give him a bit of credit: he had enough talent for search engine optimization and AI optimization to get the stupid Google AI thing on search pages to say he was. So light googling from non savvy people would have show him to be a player. Doesn’t help that AI sucks and lies to you constantly
-
They just Google his name and the AI pops up that he plays for the 49ers because it's scraping from his social media. They don't click through to notice the only source is him. They're the sort of person who would use Wikipedia as a source for a paper and not check any of the citations.
-
Apparently they were able to do some things to trick AI to think that he was on the team and then used that as proof which is odd because if asking for proof then why accept AI response. The venn diagram of people that would by the AI proof and fall for this scam is a circle.
-
Do we know what the scam actually was? Says in the article they used AI and other stuff. Wouldn’t be surprised if they posed as an actual player. Doesn’t sound like they were trying to convince people he was an actual player but posing as one that is on the roster.
-
The 49ers should have to forfeit a couple of games because of this criminal activity in which they were involved. I haven’t heard any of them deny involvement, either, so I have no choice but to assume this was coordinated with the organization itself
-
too bad google would tell you he was a 49er. how are we in 2026 and people on the internet think google search is a source for facts? google search today would probably lose at Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
-
...if you know how the NFL works and you're tech savvy. Millions of people don't. You don't need to fool everybody or even most of who you run into. Just a few, relatively speaking.
-
This is where I'm at. You couldn't take the two minutes it would've taken to go on the 49ers website and check that this guy was on the team before sending him cash?
-
Are you saying that low IQ individuals deserve to be scammed? deserve? Of course not. are they way more susceptible? If the last decade has taught us anything....
-
If being arrogant online is justification to lose tens of thousands of dollars, like 99.9999% of this site is in the crosshairs, myself definitely included
-
ESPN, the 49ers official website, hell, even their page on Wikipedia all would've confirmed that he wasn't and all of those are better sources than AI.
-
I keep meaning to make an iron man, but EmployedScape has kept me as a mainscaper for a while. Did enjoy the fuck out of this leagues though
-
He would say he had an investment opportunity and could make you money extremely quickly. He would also just lie and have sex with them
-
It’s like in Matchstick Men where Cage said something like the perfect con is when you have the mark believe they are conning you
-
Retire his jersey. Put it in the rafters. Put him in the HOF. This guy is the GOAT. He did nothing wrong.
-
He wasnt scamming senile old folks, he scammed fully capable 20-40 year old women lmao
