Not really. Sharing AI content and contributing to its virality signals that AI is acceptable and still garners attention which encourages other people to create more AI slop. Anyone who actually cares about the negative impacts of AI should boycott it entirely.

Its not the data centers, it's the tech companies's abuse of public utilities. They suck up all the available water and tax the grid causing rates to rise dramatically. They are trying to build on public lands too. They expect the public to suffer and pay for them to increase their billions.

Same thing with pages like Sheshed or Vivaher, or a lot of other left-leaning content producers who repost AI slop of Democratic candidates. Just post pics of the people and things you support, and take an extra 2 minutes to put text over the pics if needed.

I think at least some of the time people don't know the origin of what they share. There is also a sentiment against data center expansion that is not blanket opposed to AI usage. Idk how common either is, but strongly suspect the first is very common.

Our Ontario government and federal government in Canada play nonstop AI slop ads across all platforms all the time, the Ontario Conservative Doug Ford government has been doing it for years. It’s torture, every radio station, every tv station. They even get you on YouTube, google, cribbage.

Dude the other day posted something he called a new theater in Japan that is 12D. It's such bullshit. No one in the theater is Japanese. Maybe the front screens, floors & side walls have screens/video but it had a LOT of fake AI added. He won't take it down even though we all called it out as fake.

I never share AI art because it doesn't interest me, but the reaction is hysterical atp. It's not that deep A "progressivism" where people get cancelled for posting an ai cat video but not for arguing for a permanent war on terror deserves to fail.

I would argue that those people are expressing and exposing their truest selves to the rest of us, and the onus is upon us to observe and note the digression between stated and actualized values
