I strongly disagree with this take. New York, like any other city, has been a city of transplants, and will continue to be one. Immigration makes us stronger. The only people who are not transplants or descendants of transplants are the Lenape forcibly displaced by English and Dutch colonizers.

I would be very concerned if nobody wanted to become a New York City transplant. It must have meant that the City became so expensive, intolerant, and dull that nobody wanted to build their lives and careers there.
