The analogy doesn't help. This isn't about pens. Anyone who's used Claude or others knows that their rules will restrict what you can use them for, and they'll change those rules at will. DoD understandably doesn't want that, given that Anthropic said themselves they don't want their AI to be used for autonomous weapons.

Incredible.TBH Anthropic was used for target selection in Iran and if Amodei oversold operational AI and was reason why US bled so many highend munitions... only for Iran to survive than basically everything downstream of the shit show including energy prices is on their heads.

My unpopular opinion is, Anthropic should move outside the US. I think they will thrive as Europe main AI lab.
