"BREAKING: DONALD TRUMP JUST GOT DRAGGED INTO HIS OWN TRAP. Trump sued the BBC for $10 BILLION — a shakedown lawsuit meant to bully the press over a documentary about his January 6 speech. Then came the part he never planned for: HIS turn to answer questions. Under oath. He

A federal magistrate judge in Miami has ordered Donald Trump to submit to questioning under oath in his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC by Dec. 11. Failure to do so could bring severe sanctions, up to and including the outright dismissal of his case.
-
Actually yes he can. Clinton era DOJ thought so - premise being that the president cannot be indisposed during a civil trial, eg what happens if POTUS is in a closed door deposition and something like 9/11 hits…that was the logic behind their memo SCOTUS added on that POTUS gets immunity for official acts, but has not addressed the Clinton era DOJ…

A U.S. judge has told Donald Trump that he must answer questions in his defamation lawsuit against the BBC or face sanctions.
-
Indeed. I'm wondering if the publicity angle is the one to go on. He will have made 100s of comments about how they made stuff up, but having lost the law suit (either on a technically or on merits) the bbc can now claim that he caused them damages with all his misleading statements and lies.

This fantasy you spin... {adjusts neck tie from the increasing temperature} ...is some X rated hawt pr0n Seeing him be that healthy... just the acme of health. That neckussy... hoooo momma, daddy doesnt likee.

Because that was in the public interest according to the charter. I think you accidentally misread the post you're replying to - it was agreeing with you and providing relevant elaboration.
-
I bet he lets it slide. Hopefully the judge will order him to pay the BBC's costs.
-
If the case is thrown out, that's good for Trump. And BBC needs to sue to recover the costs. That is another lawsuit which will go on for years.
-
It was be an interesting journalism/data mining exercise to examine as many of the Felon's lawsuits over the years and determine how many failed at the discovery stage
-
Sounds like he's willing to pay for reinforcing a (obviously false) talking point at long as it only blows up in his face after midterms.
-
My god it’s frustrating & you just keep going. On the up side: it’s the story that keeps on giving🤷🏻🤷🏽♂️🤷♀️ You da besssst Katie Phang👏🏼🥰 #Virginia🦋

So, 7 hours of "I'm invoking my 5th Amendment right." He invoked it 450 times in another deposition.

Counter sue for false claims and damages, them take marlago 🤣 that would be icing on the cake imo.

He’ll prefer dismissal to discovery. He feels he made his point, and he doesn’t need the money.

According to Newsweek it's January, an only if NOT recorded

He won't even be alive by December 11th. His health is atrocious.
-
Yeah, that sounds like a typical Trump scenario.

He'll schedule another MOCA test that day.

There's no way Trump can be deposed at length w/o revealing his dementia and unfitness for office. A deposition is too long and can not be stage-managed the way his short public events are. That's why they're demanding no recording and desperate to put it off or avoid it.
-
We're past the "HE can't cover up his criming" stage and into the "THEY can't cover up his mental incompetency" stage. How long they've already been in this stage is a good question.
-
Two things: If he drops the suit, it must be with prejudice, I.e., he can’t bring it again. And, he has to pay court costs and all of BBC’s costs to defend themselves.
