While everyone's going all-in on AI, Apple is quietly cutting its internal spending. Is the massive cost of AI not matching the productivity hype? The AI spending frenzy might be over. 📰 TechCrunch: techcrunch.com/2026/11/04/apple… #AI #Apple #Tech

One variation on this that I’ve heard and find believable is that AI tokens will become a partially-employer-subsidized employee benefit, much like health insurance. Something that you might get fully paid for by your employer at a very low level of usage, with options for “contributing” more of your paycheck towards higher levels as you choose…

It doesn't even make sense. Just pay for the 200 a months subscription. That's 2300 in tokens a week. So that's ~300 a day in tokens. Which is plenty. Granted, I can easily burn through my weekly in a few days if Im running around the clock on a single project... But then Apple can just get the 500 a month subscription which is 5000 dollars with…

AI models: Apple developers told to cut spending No more “tokenmaxxing”: Apple is imposing internal AI spending cuts. A report says its daily budget is being reduced by a third. https://www. heise.de/en/news/AI-models-App…

I doubt it because then the company wouldn't have control over it if it's a personal tool of the employee's. I'm pretty sure companies are required to provide stuff like computers, so it would be the same with AI, it's the same with software too. But you know, if workers don't defend their rights and let companies get away with everything, sure i…

Typical corporate expectation of actively gutting employee resources and expecting more output by magic. 'You guys will work it out'. Not dissimilar to making redundancies whilst expecting budget to keep improving unaffected. Upper management are detached from reality. I couldn't care less about the OP context though really. But it is the same…

Cant come soon enough to all companies. The sooner we get to reasonable AI use, the sooner this technology can actually be used for actual good. I have co-workers who use AI for the most wasteful things, work that doesnt really warrant it.And if you ask them why they're doing it, the only answer is why the hell not, they're not paying.

Yeah I work in legal. A lot of my spend goes with a ton of adversarial challengers, multiple models, graph engineering, etc... I have to make sure each final output is of the highest quality and trust, so prompts aren't just one shot, but instead go through a gauntlet

That would be ridiculous. These people are high skilled labor. They'll just leave if the company starts setting up bad deals of employment like this. Especially companies like Apple, where each employee adds millions in value.
-
Huh? You just use the "Teams" plan and all data stays out of training data. It's basically the same as regular plans and subscriptions but for companies.
-
Wondering why they don’t offer these guys Mac Studio clusters and only route traffic through API providers when the task complexity grows exponentially.
-
They still using a fuck ton of ai. Now they’re just not wasting tokens for the sake of some dumb leaderboard.
