Well, we did kind of make dogs dependent on us, a real human thing to do. Cats wandered in to some Egyptian farmer's house and said, "This is cool. I could hang here. The wildlife is big, but stinks in a good way." The farmer says, "What are you?" the cat responds "Mau." "I'm Ipy. Welcome."

I always thought it was a matter of permissions. Dogs come in head low, tail wagging, as though waiting for permission to approach. Cats demand you ask for permission to approach them. Does that make us humans cats' pets?

I am currently surrounded by felines who are intently "napping" next to my work station in various poses and also on surfaces that are not what I'd call comfortable. Around 11AM is when the youngest will insist on getting her snuggles, which also happens to be the time most of my Zoom calls happen
