I'm a native Chicagoan and resilient as they come. Standing on El platforms in minus 27 degrees temps made me resilient.

Well... draining Lake Superior is a few orders of magnitude harder than draining the Colorado. DCs don't make water disappear. The damage would be from pumping hot, possibly polluted, water back in. 🤮 40M Americans and alfalfa farmers take 24% of the Colorada is the issue out West.

The biggest threat to the GL basin is having the Great Lakes ringed by data centers. Only rain replaces water taken from the Lakes. It doesn’t take much to create the Colorado River problem. AI oligarchs only care about how fast they can make (or lose) money while wasting water and heating up earth.

we DIDN'T move there in 2008,when my husband was offered locations for transfer, when AT&T closed down his division in San Diego.... so we moved to texas instead. texas. I hate texas. I love the friends I've made here but as a place? never thought I'd regret not moving to frigid Chicago. 😑

I remember being in high school in the 90s when they started restoring the wetlands to help with the suburbs flooding.
