Were it not for IPCC ruling out their hellworld scenario recently I would have pushed back against this. International progress is really fucking hard to notice if you're living in the US because our govt specifically is desperately dragging us so far backwards tripling down on fossil energy

Anytime I see someone dooming in the face of positive change, its the equivalent of someone laying in the middle of a littered park, doing nothing, while everyone else cleans up around them until the park is clean except where they're laying while they sigh "What's the point?"

We can fix it. We can undo the damage. It will take time, it will take giving up some creature comforts. But it's possible.

In a perverse sense I'm hopeful that we (or whoever survives a midcentury fascist crashout) will eventually be allowed to clean up this mess and design something more humane under socialism because of stove touchers destroying the legitimacy of US-led imperialism and capitalism
