    Police confirm crash was intentional; Scruggs arrested and charged

    Authorities arrested Scruggs and charged him with felony vandalism involving more than $250,000 in damage. Surveillance video showed the truck entering the parking lot, remaining for several minutes, then accelerating back into the lot before striking the storefront. Scruggs admitted to investigators that the thought came to him to crash into the Aldi where he was scheduled to deliver groceries. He tested negative for alcohol and drugs and denied suicidal or homicidal thoughts. His bond was set at $35,000.
