Tropical Storm Polo forms off Mexico's Pacific coast, may become major hurricane
The season's newest eastern Pacific storm could rapidly intensify into a Category 3-plus hurricane near Mexico's western coast, forecasters warn.

- Tropical Storm Polo formed off southwestern Mexico with 40 mph winds and is forecast to strengthen rapidly.

Wow. Hurricane #Polo looks spectacular from satellite this morning 🌀 It’s a category 5 beast with winds of 260 km/h (160 mph), and still intensifying. Luckily, it is still forecast to turn away from landfalling over Mexico.

Do we? If a cat 5 is already flattening everything I dont see what additional categories would bring to the table. And if someone isn't taking a Cat 3 seriously (I know some people like that) I don't see adding more changing that behavior either

There is absolutely nothing holding back Polo right now. The storm is already inching into major hurricane territory, and now has a prominent, lightning-enveloped eye on infrared satellite. We'll probably wake up to a storm near Category 5 strength. Extreme rapid intensification.
