You don't really want these companies drilling random wells. Residential wells don't have much of impact, but these companies would be drawing a massive amounts of water. Aquifers aren't infinite and you can be damn sure that these companies won't care that they are overdrafting, increasing salinity or just generally polluting the groundwater.

My dad’s summer house utility rates are higher because it’s not a permanent human residency, so he drilled his own well. What I mean is the legal framework and local specialized services for a solution exists already, now we just need to scale it up a notch.
