Snorkel AI raises $350M at $3.5B valuation on soaring AI training data demand
The Stanford-spinout data startup has tripled its valuation in 16 months as frontier AI labs seek complex training datasets and reinforcement-learning environments.
What to know
- Snorkel AI's $3.5 billion valuation represents a nearly 3x increase from $1.3 billion in May 2025, driven by revenue growth to $350 million annualized from $20 million a year ago.
- The company has pivoted from software to a hybrid data-as-a-service model: human experts design scenarios and rubrics while AI agents automate quality assurance, combining specialized knowledge with automation.
- Demand from frontier AI labs is shifting from simple labeling tasks to complex, high-stakes training data for increasingly capable systems—a trend accelerated by Meta's $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI last June.
- Snorkel expects to reach profitability this year while continuing to hire researchers and engineers and expand into enterprise, government, and new data modalities.

Snorkel AI raises $350 million at $3.5 billion valuation
Led by Insight Partners and S32, with participation from Addition, Greylock and Wells Fargo, the Series C round values the company at nearly three times its May 2025 valuation. Annualized revenue has reached $350 million, up from roughly $20 million a year earlier.
“Our strong view is that 100 per cent of the data that labs will get value out of will have some human input in the foreseeable future. But 100 per cent of that data will have to use synthetic and automated approaches to keep up with this complexity.”
