    Refresh follows June's pricier flagship Surface X2 launch

    Thurrott noted the entry-tier refresh comes three months after Microsoft updated its flagship 13-inch Surface Pro and 13.8/15-inch Surface Laptop with a choice of Snapdragon X2 Plus or X2 Elite chips starting at $1,499, with the new six-core X2 Plus actually carrying two fewer CPU cores than the prior generation's X Plus chip.
