   U2 highlights Music Generation programme impact

   Clayton expressed pride in the Music Generation initiative, noting it began as "a small idea that grew and grew" and now provides 115,000 music lessons a week. He emphasized that music changed the band's lives and the importance of giving others that opportunity regardless of career prospects.

     50 years ago today, four teenagers came together in Dublin and began a journey none of them could have imagined. It started in 1977, at Mount Temple Comprehensive School where U2 formed their band. Today, the lads came back to where it all started. I have seen U2 in concert so many times.

   Band members reflect on emotional homecoming

   U2 members spoke about the significance of returning to Mount Temple. Adam Clayton said being back brought him back to how vulnerable he felt as a teenager. The Edge called the experience "extraordinary" and "very moving." Larry Mullen Jr. described the shared understanding with students and joked about doing a "residency here every Thursday night."

   U2 performs 50th-anniversary concert at Mount Temple

   Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. took to the stage in the school yard shortly after 2pm, performing a seven-song set for students and staff. They opened with "I Will Follow" and closed with "With or Without You," and gave the first live performance of new single "Silencio." The band was joined by 32 young musicians from Music Generation representing Ireland's 32 counties.
