   Police car crashes into tree in Redfern; constable killed

   Constable Mia Lay, 20, was riding as passenger in a marked police vehicle responding to reports of a stolen car in nearby Glebe when the car hit a tree near the intersection of Regent Street and Gibbons Street in Redfern. She died at the scene. The 24-year-old driver sustained facial and leg injuries and was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
