What to know
- Netanyahu says intelligence points to an Iranian plan to disrupt Tuesday's Israeli election and has threatened "decisive" retaliation.
- A parallel US military buildup (a third aircraft carrier, thousands of troops) and a Saudi Arabia evacuation order have fueled fears the February war with Iran could resume before US midterms or Israel's vote.
- Social media and comment sections are split between suspicion that the war threat is politically timed to help Netanyahu or Trump, and genuine concern about Iran's capacity to retaliate against Gulf and US infrastructure.
- Israel's military chief reportedly warned that renewed fighting this close to the election could force its indefinite postponement.

The war threat and election-interference warnings are a political pretext benefiting Netanyahu or Trump, not a genuine security response.

A conflict with Iran right before the US midterms would politically benefit Trump's party by spiking oil prices and rallying support, or conversely devastate the GOP's chances.

Reminder: Trump and Netanyahu ready to reignite war with Iran days before Israel's election. Netanyahu wants a war to save his political career, with Trump willing to explode global gas prices again, kill more Iranian civilians and put US troops, allied countries in harm's way to help him.

Ok, that's what I was trying to ask with the "Or do you strictly mean impeaching the lower level people?" part. You think there's something to be gained by running interim members for 2 years (Trump and a Congress willing to impeach his lackeys seem unlikely to agree on a successor)? The willingness to impeach (and convict) his lackeys, but not…

Ehh not exactly. It’s true that directly impeaching Trump is a tall order. However, many of the minions around Trump are going to be much much easier. He’s surrounded by deeply unpopular (and reportedly completely incompetent and corrupt) people. Going after some of them (Hegseth, Patel, etc) is much much more possible. I dont think any…

Didn't Iran come up with that decentralised command of theirs because of that mate? And how long did it take you in Iraq and Afghanistan? Wtf are you bragging about?
-
Definitely do if it was thought out and more robust. Seems to me like this was just done by trump on a whim and the high from taking out mudero. Didn't help that our initial strikes were very successful in whiping out most of Iran's higher leadership.
-
The timing is right for after elections, 3-4 week buildup. With potential major losses for the GOP it would be a scorched earth policy between the elections and Jan 1st. Would not surprise me as this has been Trumps MO.
-
What fighting back? All they have done is get creamed by the Iranians. Only the Israelis and Americans have done anything of consequence.
-
Yeah but after that he'll get so angry he might even order a land invasion or a nuclear strike on them. I don't know about Congress stopping him. Don't the Democrats need a huge majority in the Senate(that they'll never get) to impeach him? If he can't be impeached he doesn't have to be afraid of whatever Congress does.
