Evacuations and road closures remain in place as floodwaters recede slowly

As of Sunday, floodwaters began to recede in southwest Colorado but evacuations and road closures remained active across several counties where water continued to spill over riverbanks. A catastrophic flooding warning remained in effect along the San Juan River in Colorado's Montezuma County and Utah's San Juan County until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Many residents remained trapped Sunday despite declining water levels.

“Although floodwaters are beginning to recede, continued incoming weather is affecting rescue and response efforts.”
