Brain stimulation study shows electrical current temporarily reduces objectification bias
Researchers find mild electrical stimulation to the brain removes perceptual bias linked to sexual objectification of women.
What to know
- Brain stimulation via electrical current temporarily altered how participants perceived sexualized images of women
- The effect removed perceptual bias linked to sexual objectification, the first such demonstration in research
- The change was temporary, suggesting the bias can be neurologically influenced
“Applying mild electrical stimulation to the brain temporarily removed a perceptual bias linked to the sexual objectification of women, in the first study of its kind.”
