Delhi-NCR construction ban begins Nov 5 to combat peak winter pollution
Authorities order 15-day halt on dust-generating activities; work-from-home curbs for half of office staff.
What to know
- CAQM imposed a 15-day ban on construction and demolition activities across Delhi-NCR from November 5–20 based on historical data showing recurring severe pollution in early-to-mid November.
- Work-from-home orders require 50% of staff in government and private offices to work remotely during the ban period; essential services and major infrastructure projects are exempted.
- The measure is part of broader winter action plans; Delhi's plan includes a wider construction ban from December 10 to January 20, 2027.
“adverse meteorological conditions, including low wind speeds, a shallow atmospheric boundary layer and reduced vertical mixing, further limit pollutant dispersion”
