What to know

  • Minshew came off the bench to lead an 80-yard, eight-play drive in the final 65 seconds of regulation, tying the game 30-30 on a 14-yard TD pass to Michael Wilson with six seconds left.
  • Chad Ryland's missed extra point after that touchdown forced overtime, where his 42-yard field goal won the game 33-30 in OT.
  • Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur promoted Minshew to starting QB for Week 9 at Seattle, benching Jacoby Brissett who had won the team's first two games.

    • Someone might give up like 6th round pick for a little QB insurance. He's not the best, but be he can hold the clipboard for a team that's got a QB and is playoff bound. You'd hope he's not needed, but it would be nice to have a backup with experience to keep your team from losing every game of your starter goes down.

    • "High end backup" maybe in that he has experience but the dude just got benched for Minshew and doesn't have a cheap contract at all. WTF is his upside supposed to be? What team is holding on for their QB to get better that he'd improve and keep in the playoff race?

    • I third string emergency QB set to be a free agent making 15.8 mil this year. I think a 7th will get it done. I mean I have to imagine, they would outright release him at this point, just seeing if they can get even a 7th
