What to know

  • Talarico's win ends a 38-year Republican hold on the Texas Senate seat, the first Democratic Senate victory in the state since 1988.
  • The race became the most expensive Senate contest in U.S. history, with Elon Musk alone spending over $200 million (some reports cite up to $448 million) backing Paxton.
  • The flip came alongside Gina Hinojosa's defeat of Gov. Greg Abbott, marking a broader collapse of GOP dominance in statewide Texas races.
  • Talarico has signaled a conciliatory posture, saying he wants to work with Republicans who criticized him during the campaign.

The dispute None substantive — the sampled conversation is overwhelmingly celebratory with no dissenting voices represented in the evidence. · positions read across 110 posts and comments

This is a historic, joyful vindication for Texas Democrats and a moral win over corruption.

  • “Talarico withstood all the harassment Musk’s money could buy and Texans saw through the lies. We chose character over corruption and rebuked pedophile protector Paxton!”

Musk's massive spending failure is itself a satisfying part of the story.

  • “Elon spent $448 million on this loss, so it’s a double win”

Many express genuine shock or disbelief that this outcome actually happened.

  • “Am I… Am I gonna have to hand it to Texas????”
