Russian Overnight Barrage Hits Kharkiv Hospital, Wounds 73
289 drones and dozens of missiles struck Ukrainian energy sites and a Kharkiv hospital hours before new peace talks in Abu Dhabi.
What to know
- Russia launched a large overnight barrage of 289 drones, 59 cruise missiles and 17 ballistic missiles across multiple Ukrainian regions.
- A strike hit a Kharkiv hospital complex, wounding 73 people and damaging the cardiology department; energy infrastructure in nine regions was also targeted, cutting power to over 180,000 people.
- The attack follows a separate strike a day earlier on an aid distribution site that killed at least 33, which the UN human rights mission says likely violated international law.
- The assaults come as US, Russian and Ukrainian officials prepare for talks in Abu Dhabi next week and allied talks in Brussels this week on post-war security arrangements.

UN rights mission says aid-site attack likely illegal
The UN's human rights mission in Ukraine condemned the earlier strike on the aid distribution site, saying Russian forces either knew about the publicised humanitarian distribution or failed to check before attacking.
“Either the Russian armed forces knew that there was a humanitarian distribution taking place, or they failed to take the most basic steps to find out what was happening in this village they were planning to attack.”
