All of the most successful companies currently propping up the American economy: - bet their futures on things most people hate - spend WAY more than they earn - are each other's biggest investors - rely on the exact same shared customer/user base for revenue Absolutely nothing can go wrong here at all. # USPol # politics # BigTech https://www…

Google is probably going to be fine. The web is going to get a bit weird in a few years and they're going to be right in there. The web is likely going to layer up soon. As more and more people utilize AI it changes traffic. It's impossible (and undesirable) to keep training with current affairs, LLMS need to go out to the web to find reality and…

Eh, every time I see one of these "big" numbers I lose respect for the publication reporting it that way - the honest way to do it would be by percentage - valuations are so high now that even a few percent drop looks massive in dollar amount. Although Google is down 26% in 6 months so their trend is definitely not good - it gets worse every time…

I’d like to point out that I removed Google from my phone some time ago BECAUSE they push AI and BECAUSE of their hyperscale data centre build outs. I don’t use Google maps now or Google anything. Plenty of friends have done the same. MAYBE TOXIC AI IS KILLING GOOGLE?! 🤷♀️

Alphabet's shares fell more than 13%, erasing more than $500 billion in its biggest-ever market plunge, after the company reported disappointing search and advertising sales that reinforced investor concerns about AI. https://www. japantimes.co.jp/business/2026 /10/30/companies/google-500-billion-wipeout/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #…

I’ve never encountered in my life a new technology that was adopted this quickly. In just a few years AI is being used in some way by almost everyone, no matter if they’re tech-savvy or not. It’s also interesting that everyone uses it but it’s also pretty widely hated at the same time. The demand is there - I just don’t think the revenue streams…

People like you taking shit again. Search grew 12 percent year over year. WTF are you talking about? Spending on CapEx is essential in growing AI infrastructure. How do you think they can win by just sitting around hoping the money printer goes on forever? Adapt, innovate and succeed. Complacency has ended so many tech companies.
-
management: we need to pivot all of our capex to ai finance: how does it make money management: idk yet finance: well let's spend a trillion dollars on it and cross our fingers i'm sure it will work out

Alphabet reported earnings per share of $2.12, missing the $3.01 estimate by $0.89, while revenue of $127.58 billion also missed expectations. Read more: https:// t.co/SnROtfz7DS # news # finance # economics # stocks # options

It means the spending spree is on hold. The credit window for the neoclouds remains closed. Now the hyperscalers are feeling the pain. The narrative was that the hyperscalers could lean on their prodigious cash flows if the data center rush didn't pan out. This round of earnings reports adds some doubt to that narrative which is spooking everyone…

Competes in is meaningless. Apple has a moat with an monopoly on phone IOS. MSFT has a moat on windows OS. Email and maps Google is the best but it is very hard to monetize without destroying your market share. The only moat is in search and that's what the business should be valued for.

Good, Google AdSense schlonged all small website owners when they eliminated per click payments- the revenue dropped 80-90% in my case Now they’re going to miss original content creators who could draw traffic, as I did Screw Google

I find it interesting that advertisement is not even mentioned considering it’s what drives Google’s revenue outside of their B2B cloud segment. All of the referenced products outside of their B2B cloud services exists to gather more data about their users to serve more tailored ads.

So will they make the AI overview optional? No? Then why should I feel sorry for them?

"However, profits at the company fell by a considerable 25% during the quarter. And for the second time in its history as a public company, it showed negative free cash flow, this time in excess of $9bn. That's almost twice the loss of cash Alphabet showed just three months ago."
-
Because it wasn’t about revenue, it’s about free cash flow. You can be revenue positive up the Ying yang, but if you’re cash flow negative for too long, you’re headed for chpt 11.
-
Ah, the thing forced upon us is causing them to lose money? It’s almost like having an AI opt out/off switch may be the most profit-saving thing they could do
-
i'm disappointed that Mythos is an Anthropic model because it would be the perfect naming for Google's models since they only actually exist in benchmarks or press releases

Ahh yes, I see. I was thinking in terms of there being a subreddit for damned near anything and everything, all found on this one weird platform. But I get what you’re saying 👍

"what? the golden goose killing machine was killing golden geese???"

It’s hilarious to see “AI fears” in the headline when the truth is Google missed its earning estimate.I’d say it’s more than revenue growth is below estimates than any “AI fears”
-
All things considered, you probably bought the high in those cases, so it’s less likely you’ll do the same after buying this dip. Still, I’ll avoid it just in-case lol.
