Following the rout, commentary converged on whether the sell-off signals a lasting repricing of AI-related valuations; CNBC analysts cautioned that any rebound requires a long investing horizon, while Bloomberg coverage tied the losses to broader doubts about AI capex returns at Alphabet and other hyperscalers.
“Intel's sell-off could be a chance to buy the dip, but you need a long investing horizon.”

You're confusing two entirely different things: what data centers do and how they're operated. Nobody is arguing that data centers don't provide the computing infrastructure that makes AI possible. That's precisely why they're being built. But that doesn't mean AI isn't also being used to optimize the infrastructure itself. AI is already being…

And their compiler would purposely make sure that programs would ignore processor capabilities if the CPU reported itself as anything other than "GenuineIntel". So she an AMD CPU would run the program like normal and report back "GenuineAMD", the program would ignore things like AVX2 instructions and other core functions that modern CPUs leverage…

There's an important difference that this low-IQ take always misses: Unlike all of those technologies, AI advancement scales with infrastructure expansion. The more you expand AI infrastructure, the more advanced AI technology becomes. You can scale a railway as much as you like, and it will still only be able to do the same thing but more of it…

Personally, I think this is a good thing. Banks and investors are more cautious with what AI affiliated companies they lend to so there is less crazy speculation. There may be an AI bubble but hopefully it will deflate slowly instead of popping since so many people were scarred by the dot com bubble burst. I have a aways to go before retirement so…

Ike came to my second nationality to prop up a fascist dictator that banned all forms of non-catholic public worship and also expelled THOUSANDS of US CITIZENS with worse treatment than ICE in an operation named after a racial slur for latinos. He also backed a coup in Guatemala and 1 other in central america I cant remember. He gets credit for…

It is contracted business. From companies like Apple and others. So it is a pretty sure thing. Google is doing all the backend for Apple with their launch of the Gemini Siri. BTW, some if is from Anthropics which has $112 billion in cash right now and about to go public which will add another $100 billion. Do not think they will have any problem…

Doesn't that just mean you had the minor inconvenience of the first bush recession and the slightly more significant effects of the dot com bubble bursting? I think if you rank the top three most significant economic crashes that Gen X has experienced, they will be a perfect match for the top three for millenials.

It's more than just that. It also includes the "value" every other owner of the same car thought they had. in reality, nobody lost money, they just "lost" their perceived value of what they could have hypothetically sold, assuming they were the first person in line to satisfy the current demand.

Yes. I have seen the same. The government indicating this is likely partially the reason they see AI very different in China versus the US. I only live in the US half time and other half in Thailand. In Thailand I have also noticed a very different view of AI versus the US.

the average life expectancy in the US is 79 so lets round that to 80 We get them every 7-8 years that means we should see 10-11 crashes in the average life time as long as we keep with the Heritage/3rd Way Deregulation style rather than the more stable "New Deal" style

This is just nervous investors getting shaken out. AI is a transformative and strategic technology and the sector has achieved too big to fail status. The US government will find a way to keep financing AI--even if it means spending your tax dollars.

Lots of people are divesting their stocks right now to get in on Anthropic's IPO and the speculation around it. The timing of all these sell-offs is not random lol. The burst doesn't come until the bubble is actually inflated.

That’s the same way the AI hype started - a bunch of rich assholes decided it’s the next coming of Christ - so see it flame out just because a few rich guys thought it was time has a certain symmetry to it.

I'll be honest and say I don't read much. I've learned from YouTube really, even though I did read Chomsky and stuff back during my process. If you got a good podcast or channel I'm down for that for sure.

Witcher 3 and I'm pretty sure it's also NTFS. The folder I pointed to is the main steamapps folder which has compatdata within it, maybe that's why it worked right away for me.

"AI" really stands for automated impersonation, as in, just the latest version of something that has existed for generations and can fool some of the people some of the time.

Really? What game and what's that hard drive's file system? My windows 10 install is NTFS and not a single game was able to load. Maybe I just need to try again?

Clinton signed the bill but it had a veto-proof majority, so it's not like his signing was really him giving congress the go-ahead.

I loaded up one of the games that was installed on the other drive and it worked fine actually!

Just picked up a 16 x 2 gb ddr 3600 kit for $100. Is ram really over $1000 these days?
