Commenters emphasized the need for either a complete ban or at minimum a default filter to hide AI-generated content, similar to how adult content is handled. Others questioned why such spam was allowed to accumulate in the first place.

From a process analysis perspective: a) how long did it take? b) how much of the existing AI slop on the platform did that remove? (% wise) c) what steps are you taking to prevent a recurrence? d) how much did it cost you in resources/time/wages to remove it? e) when are you banning AI slop?
-
I concur. Itch got off way too easily for rapidly delisting games and not issuing refunds/payments to those impacted.
-
Cool. It's a first step. Now ban it entirely please.
-
Now if only you actually held that view and banned AI slop from the platform...
-
I mean, unless you plan to ban it won't they just slop it all back on?
-
Let’s GOOOOOO now re-list adult games and we’ll be COOKIN, itch!!
-
All 3,216 members who joined should be banned from the site.
-
That's good but y'all really need rules that you can enforce to prevent this from happening
-
I'm sorry TERABYTES??? The hell kinda slop were these guys shitting out?
-
E
Fun Fact: I made this comment BEFORE they updated their ToS and mandated AI disclosures. You'd think people would check upload dates and realize that there was still a very reasonable distrust towards itch at the time... but apparently fucking not -_-
-
And now you need to revise your TOS and make sure the slop stays gone. Rip and tear until it is done.
-
Thank you 🙏 Recently I started seeing piles of AI generated VFX for Godot and it is just depressing. Genuine content is just lost in the ocean of slop.
-
Now remove all the rest of the AI slop and I'll respect your website again ;)
-
Hard to filter easily when your org only has like, 30 staff. Itch really is a fly by night tiny org. Most people making slop don't label it as slop, so it's not a simple problem.
-
Great~ next you should automatically deny any submissions to that slopfest 👍
-
Epic is a storefront? Itch doesn’t host epic…
-
Man, that must have felt like the world's most needed deep cleanse.
-
People who unironically call themselves socialists in their bio and then use Luddites as an epithet simply *must* be ragebaiting, there's no other explanation for the sheer level of political incoherence on display
-
Thank god the percentage of feces in my sandwich has gone down from 5.02% to 5.01%. I was just starting to get worried about the pathogens.
-
all ai is slop. unless you killed (and work diligently to continue to kill) 100% of it, don't break an arm jerking yourselves off
-
nobody gaf about you cleaning out your servers, ban AI on your platform entirely if you want praise
-
they were in fact enforcing rules that were in place for years
-
... I think it is sometimes pretty obvious.
-
Or at the ABSOLUTE bare minimum if you're not willing to ban it, you need a add a setting to filter it out that's on by default the way you have a setting for adult content. I do not want to see any slop.
