Nvidia's Huang says '0% chance' AI ends the world by 2030, urges full speed ahead
Jensen Huang dismisses Anthropic-linked extinction warnings as "doomsday narratives" and says AI firms seeking a slowdown are really after liability protection.

What to know
- Huang's remarks respond to a wave of extinction-risk warnings triggered by former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, backed by two other Anthropic researchers, and echoed by Dario Amodei, Sam Altman and Elon Musk.
- Huang argues AI firms calling for a slowdown are seeking relief from existing liability and cybersecurity laws rather than genuinely asking for more regulation.
- His position matches Donald Trump's, who phoned Huang live on stage to reject a slowdown and has called AI-doom warnings a "hoax."
- Online reaction is largely skeptical, with many commenters framing Huang's dismissal as self-interested given his enormous financial stake in continued AI expansion.
The dispute Whether Huang's rejection of extinction risk reflects sound judgment or is simply self-interested reasoning from someone whose fortune depends on unchecked AI expansion. · positions read across 16 posts and comments
Huang is dismissing AI risk because a slowdown or bubble collapse would cost him personally.

Huang's argument is logically flawed, comparable to downplaying long-term harm because it's not immediate.

I was working for a company that investigated getting into EHR after the affordable care act went into effect, and we ran into similar regulatory hurdles. This type of thing happens all the time.

Press and commentators note Huang's financial stake in the debate
Outlets including the Verge highlighted that Huang, whose wealth has grown from an estimated $21bn in 2023 to over $192bn in 2026, has strong financial incentive to dismiss slowdown calls, as the wider press picked up his remarks alongside Bessent-He Lifeng AI-safety talks and the upcoming Trump-Xi summit.

Huang calls slowdown pleas a bid to dodge existing laws
Huang said AI companies' calls for new safety regulation are really attempts to be relieved of laws already on the books covering cybersecurity, unauthorized entry and product liability.
“They're actually not asking for more laws. They're asking to be relieved of the laws we do have. And I think that's a problem.”

He's only saying that because if the AI bubble pops, he gonna take all the blame for whats about to happen if it does. I think he knows the bubble is going to pop and he's desperate to cull the idea of AI being not useful at all. On the contrary, damaging even. Like any new tech, building up too fast with too much capital, it's bound to fall.
