How is this comment not downvoted like at all? If the cops weren’t there in a quasi-private capacity, the gunman would have entered the synagogue. I get the desire of “let’s not have the need TO hire off-duty cops”, but that’s not the world we live in. It’s a good thing that Ontario offers that as an option, not all provinces do.

There is no church, no school or no hospital on that street (Bleecker Ave.) There is a synagogue and shots were fired at it, hitting the windows. I suspect you know that though.
