I'm sure that most people in the EU, me included, support closer ties with Canada, and our politicians don't have to worry about angering the general public on this matter. What I'm afraid of is that any agreement between Canada and the EU will have to include concessions on something. This is totally normal, because you cannot have an absolute…

Seems legit to give the US the finger at this point, but –only if Europe reverses the racist and genocidal refugee deal with Tunesia, and Canada ceases it's neo- colonial mining in Congo...among other things– would I give them a shred of trust to share in leading Earth's citizens into the future. For the time being I will continue looking hard for…

EU is unworkable, clunky and in the end, fragile. No need for that and wouldn’t fit Canada. A new Union with more modern goals and treaties is needed and Canada could be at the center of it. I personally don’t think the EU proper is going to survive very long and jumpstart what will come after is smart.

We should build a sub-oceanic tunnel between Europe and Canada for both passenger and freight rail transport. That would be the project of the millennium, ensuring a market for industry and employment for at least a hundred years. 😀😉 I am glad that Canada is our partner. ❤️

Canada as a country was also, like... A colony of the UK, a European entity. With European descent being the largest demographic there, followed by Natives. It's not a crazy thought that being a former European colony probably adds some legitimacy for Canada joining the EU.

because the UK was quite keen on continuing military cooperation on the level they had before the UK under Cameron was the party that insisted on keeping non EU parties out, so of course they were not happy about it. Rules are for others, not for them.

No, you are wrong. The 90 billion EU loan has already been committed. The two-thirds figure you are referencing is the proportion of Ukraine's total projected funding needs that the 90 billion is meant to cover. The projected remaining need was another 45 billion according to the EU, or 70 billion according to Zelenskyy now. Canada has agreed to…

Experience in dealing doesn’t necessarily mean it’s been successful. I don’t see how the EU’s experience in dealing with either bad actors like Hungary and Slovakia, which has mucked things up over there, is beneficial to Canada in dealing with the likes of Quebec.

Which was just a scam to funnel money through tether for the Nutlicks. America doesn't have a diesel shortage, as much as they want the people to believe that. America is the leading exporter of diesel in the world.

I don't recall that much issues with regards to budget, but that obviously could change. But any sort of reform or fundamental change will be extremely hard to pass. Honestly last few days i've been thinking about a comment i saw here few months back that EU is running into paralel issues as poland-lithuanian did.

We’re not choosing to de-align with the US, they’re basically kicking us out of their economy. They’re the ones trying to cancel CUSMA, not us lol. If Canada had it our way, in a perfect world, we’d develop even closer economic relations with the USA. Sadly, they don’t seem to want that. Not our choice

And if Europe keeps squabbling over a fucking title and doesn’t get down to business and start working together with partners, and creating these alliances, democracy in the western world will be eroded, we will be kowtow to America forever, and Russia will have us for breakfast.

It means that Canadian leaders get to attend and host special meetings where they can feel important. Canada has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations for decades so Canadians ought to be used to it.

Free trade I think is what they’re after. I’m a citizen of both - and I can think of a few things that are mutually beneficial just like that. Also militarily - I think it’ll kick ass since both have easy access to the North Pole.

Why is taking on an existing European obligation considered "the right thing to do"? Even some EU member states themselves opted out of this "loan", which isn't actually a loan. There is no reason for us to part of this.

And yet here you are. Commenting and trying to act as if this doesn’t matter. We know it stings, seeing the leaders of the free world putting out alliance into practice. Have a great day, maga prick.

You made it very clear that you think people who don't agree with your interpretation are "illiterate internet trolls." I asked you to look at a calendar because you're missing some very important context. The midterms are next Tuesday. The timing of this EU conference is not coincidental. The EU and Carney are trying to send a "message." If they…
